The PEACE Program or PEACE through Exchange and Active Citizenship Education is a secondary school trimester program which aims at empowering and enabling young people to become active citizens. The participants stay with host-families and attend a local high school. The Program has 2 different tracks, the European Citizenship track and the Global Citizenship track.
European Federation for Intercultural Learning (EFIL) contributes to Europe’s future by providing intercultural education, European citizenship and the active participation of European citizens in the continent’s life. The European Union and the Council of Europe are EFIL’s core Partners for European fundraising, policy-setting and sharing.
AAI was first known as AILA (Asia Intercultural Learning Association) and was formed in 1991 with 5 AFS Partners, namely: AFS Hong Kong, AFS Indonesia, AFS Japan, AFS Malaysia and AFS Thailand. In 1998 AFS Australia and New Zealand joined the group, and was renamed Asia Pacific Initiative (APN). It was named as AFS Asia Initiative (AAI) in 2000 and finally renamed as AFS Asia and the Pacific Initiative in 2005. Today, there are 10 partner organizations within AAI. With the aim to provide a regional association among AFS Partners in Asia, AAI was created to deepen mutual understanding and to discuss specific issues of the Asia Pacific region.
AFS Intercultural Programs is an international, voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world.
