Travelling

The PEACE camp is the last part of your AFS trimester programme and you will return to your home country after the camp.

-To get to the Peace Camp, you will receive the tickets from your hosting organisation (the AFS office where you did you exchange)

-To get back to your home country after the Peace Camp, you will receive your tickets from your sending organisation (the AFS office from your home country).

This depends on your flight/train departure time. The last day is just the departure day without any programme, so we will bring you to the airport/train station in time for your flight/train.

Your sending organisation (AFS office in your home country) will tell us which flight/train you will take back to your home country and we will bring you to the airport/train station in time.

If you are hosted in Belgium, your host family will bring you to the camp. You will get more details from your sending organisation (AFS Belgium French speaking or AFS Belgium Flanders).

Please say goodbye to your host family when they drop you off at the camp venue. The departure day will be very hectic and emotional, you will be surrounded by your AFS friends, and will be busy preparing to go home. The PEACE camp serves as your end of stay camp, helping you to reflect on your exchange, but also to prepare you to go home and see your family and friends again. Usually, it helps participants to have the camp in between saying goodbye to their host family and getting back to their home countries!

If you are from Belgium, the camp finishes at the same time for you as for participants from other countries. On departure day, your family can pick you up from the venue, or, if you are over 16, you can go home by yourself if you want. Your sending organisation (AFS Belgium French speaking or AFS Belgium Flanders) will give you more details about this.
